Taste of World Cultures- On March 12, beginning at 5:30 p.m., the World Language Department at GHS will sponsor the 13th annual Taste of World Cultures, an international potluck meal with demonstrations, musical and dance performances, and an international fashion show.
The event pulls in students and their families from all over Greenfield, including especially the rather diverse demographic that has emerged in recent years of families from Eastern Europe, Pakistan, India, Southeast Asia, and Latin American countries, as well as the handful of exchange students we host every year (this year's are from France, Germany, and Iceland). The event and the week leading up to it provide a chance for students from other cultures or studying other cultures to share and celebrate their learning.
Many local businesses and restaurants contribute to the event: paper products, bread, beverages, coffee, gift certificates, or food. Performances include students and community volunteers but also a headlining act. This year we welcome Grupo Folklórico Palo Santo , a locally-based group that performs Afro-Cuban dance and music. The event is free and open to the public. Bring a dish from your own or another culture to share!
