Greenfield High School Mission and Learning Expectations

The Mission of Greenfield High School, in active partnership with students, families and the community, is to provide for students’ academic, social and civic development. In an evolving society, our common purpose is to create a positive, safe and supportive learning environment that will inspire students to achieve their personal best throughout their lives.

Academic Expectations:
• To demonstrate an understanding of a common foundation of academic knowledge by meeting current local and state standards for graduation.
• To develop effective reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
• To use research, analysis, and critical thinking to gain knowledge and to make informed decisions.
• To acquire and demonstrate current technological skills.
• To gain exposure to and an understanding of the fine and performing arts.
• To embark on a life of wellness through healthy food choices, physical fitness activities, and use of psychological and medical support services.

Social Expectations:
• To be responsible for one’s own actions and choices.
• To collaborate effectively in group endeavors.
• To experience opportunities for learning and growth outside the classroom.
• To develop occupational interests and prepare for life as an independent learner.
• To behave with dignity and self-respect and with appreciation for our individual differences and our common humanity.

Civic Expectations:
• To take responsibility and make a positive contribution to the community.
• To practice the principles of democracy: equality, freedom, law, and justice.
